About the Book
How did a California girl end up in Arkansas?
She blames Eric Estrada.
Valerie Katz, a native Californian, was transported to Arkansas at age 67. She has four children and six grandchildren who are still astounded and amused by the move.
"The News from Arkansas" presents an honest and humorous look at the culture shock that can occur when someone moves to a different state after living in the same place for decades — and the inevitable adventures when she hits the road in a motorhome.
"I was a California girl. My children were unofficially forbidden to move more than 1½ hours from their mother. How did I end up in Arkansas? I blame Eric Estrada!"
— Valerie KatzAfter purchasing a new home in Arkansas, it was a full year before they could actually move there — enduring a chorus of "You're moving where?!" from California friends the entire time. What started as emails to family and friends about the strange and amusing differences in their new world eventually became this book of laughter, and a few tears.
One year at Christmas, her son Donald said he only wanted one thing for the following Christmas — a copy of the book. So here it is. I hope you will enjoy the read.
